The Medicine of Nature: How Daily Mountain Walking Restored My Health and Sight

🌲 Nature’s Free Prescription: How a Nearby Mountain Restored My Vitality

Recently, I moved to a peaceful home located right near a modest mountain with an elevation of 220 meters. At the time, I was going through a difficult health period—recovering from illness, undergoing medical treatments, and struggling with significant weight and stamina loss.

To regain my physical strength, I began walking up the mountain trails daily. What started as a simple effort to survive has transformed into a profound journey of healing, friendship, and newfound vitality.

A Shared Journey of Healing: Meeting Fellow Hikers

During my daily climbs, I met another regular hiker, Mr. A. He shared that he had also started walking the mountain trails after receiving medical treatments at a hospital. Sensing our shared struggles and mutual empathy, we instantly bonded over our wellness journey.

Mr. A previously suffered from severe allergies. Remarkably, after making forest walking a daily habit for two years, his allergy symptoms completely disappeared. When he first started, walking even on flat ground was exhausting; today, he comfortably completes a 10 km round-trip trek through rugged mountain paths!

Noticeable Health Miracles: Energy and Sharper Vision

I have experienced my own wonderful transformations as well. After my illness, I felt frail and drained of energy. But thanks to consistent mountain walking, I can feel my former stamina and muscular endurance returning day by day.

👁️ A Surprising Sight Improvement: One of the most remarkable changes was my eyesight. My vision had grown blurry and dim due to fatigue and aging, but as I walk through the green forest, taking in the open air, my eyes gradually become clear and sharp again. To me, this neighborhood mountain is truly Nature's best restorative medicine.

Barefoot Walking (Earthing) and Mindful Solitude

While hiking, I often observe fellow walkers stepping barefoot along the dirt trails. Several people have recommended "Earthing" or barefoot walking to me, praising its natural acupressure benefits and the grounding energy absorbed from the earth.

Though I haven't tried barefoot walking just yet, I deeply appreciate how stepping directly onto the soil stimulates acupressure points on the feet and rebalances our body chemistry.

"Walking alone up the mountain allows me to let go of complex thoughts and everyday stress. Immersed in the scent of pine trees and the soothing melodies of birds, I feel completely at one with nature. Before I know it, I reach the summit and greet my friend Mr. A with a warm smile."
